What the extension reads

• Film details: on a film page (movie.douban.com/subject/…), it reads the title, year and IMDb ID shown on the page to look up ratings.
• Hover lookups: on other movie.douban.com pages, such as Top 250, charts and a film page's recommendations, it does nothing until you rest the pointer on a link to a film for about 0.3 seconds. It then fetches that film's Douban page from movie.douban.com and reads the same three details.
• It runs only on movie.douban.com and does not read any other website.

What is sent, and to whom

Only to the OMDb API (www.omdbapi.com): the film's IMDb ID, or its title and year, together with an API key (the built-in shared key, or your own if you entered one). OMDb handles these requests under its own terms and policies. Nothing is sent to the developer or to anyone else.

Each rating is a link. If you click one, your browser opens IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes or Metacritic with that film's IMDb ID or title in the address, as any link would.

What stays on your device

• Settings: whether the extension is on, and the OMDb API key you may choose to enter. Stored in Chrome sync storage (chrome.storage.sync), so Chrome Sync carries them between your own browsers if you have it on.
• Rating cache: results are kept in local storage (chrome.storage.local) for up to 7 days (1 day for films released in the last 90 days or not found on OMDb) so pages load faster.
• Request timestamps: while the shared key is in use, the times of the last minute's requests are kept locally to stay within its rate limit.

When you open the toolbar popup, it checks whether the current tab is a Douban movie page to show its status. That check is not stored or sent.

Deleting your data

Clear the API key in the extension's settings to remove it. Uninstalling the extension removes all of its settings and cached data.

What we never do

We do not collect names, email addresses, accounts or browsing history. We do not use remote code, analytics or trackers. Your data is not sold, transferred to third parties beyond the OMDb requests described above, or used for any purpose other than showing ratings.

Limited Use

Douban Movie Rating Assistant's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
